There's been a lot of information about the COVID-19 vaccines. All of us at FEP understand that safe and effective vaccines are key tools to overcoming this pandemic. Now that the FDA has authorized several COVID-19 vaccines, you need to know that they are all:
When and where to get vaccinated
You can use the national VaccineFinder to check availability and search for vaccine locations in your area. You can also text your ZIP code to 438829 or call 1-800-232-0233 to find a location. The VaccineFinder creators have worked with clinics, pharmacies, and health departments to provide accurate and up-to-date information about vaccination services.

If you've been vaccinated
Review new CDC safety guidelines for what you can do after you've been fully vaccinated.
Remember: you should get both doses of the vaccine, if two are required.
Find COVID-19 Vaccines
Safe
All COVID-19 vaccines authorized by the FDA for use in the U.S. have gone through extensive research and rigorous safety assessment. When it comes to safety, you can rest assured there have been no shortcuts. The vaccines won't cause you to get infected with COVID-19. Instead, they work to enable your body and your immune system to defend itself against the virus.
What about side effects?
Like with anything introduced into your body, there could be mild side effects. But the COVID-19 vaccines have been designed to have as minimal side effects as possible. If fact, if you have any symptoms at all, they usually last for a day or two at most.
Effective
All COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the U.S. have been shown to be highly effective at preventing serious illness from COVID-19. So, you can feel good about any of them keeping you safe. The vaccines were studied across a population of diverse ages, races and sexes, and were found to be highly effective. Across the U.S., every family and neighborhood can expect effectiveness and protection.
Why could I need two doses?
As with many childhood vaccines, getting both doses is crucial to the vaccine working. It's the same with the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines. The first shot starts to build immunity, the second shot ensure maximum protection. By getting both shots, we protect ourselves and our loved ones.
Necessary
The vaccines are our most powerful tool to stop the spread of COVID-19. Many adults have medical conditions that will prevent them from getting the vaccine even if they want it. It's up to us to keep them protected by doing our part and getting the vaccine for them. It's also important to get vaccinated if you've already had COVID-19 to reduce the risk of reinfection.

The vaccines are free for all Americans. FEP is covering these vaccines with no cost sharing for our members. You will pay no out-of-pocket costs or unexpected fees for the recommended doses, no matter where you receive the vaccines.
We are focused on protecting our members from fraudsters who seek to take advantage of the fear and confusion that we may be experiencing during the pandemic. Be cautious of advertisements for vaccines or medications that are not recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), your local health department or your doctor. Phishing emails referencing COVID-19 or the vaccines can look like they are from a trusted source, but in reality could be from scammers trying to steal your personal information. Be aware of door-to-door COVID-19 scams offering home exams, testing or vaccines. Review your Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) for medical services and access your MyBlue account for your prescription history.
